What does it take to leave an impact?
For Otto Mitter, it has been a career built around curiosity, education, innovation and, above all, people.
At the 2026 Lashie Awards, that career was recognised when Otto received the Industry Impact Award, followed by another special moment for the team when Elleebana was named Lash Brand of the Year.
Together, these awards represent decades of work, learning, teaching, listening and growing alongside the lash and brow industry.
From artist to industry leader
Before the international stages, product development and global education, Otto’s career began behind the treatment bed.
His path through the beauty industry started in makeup artistry, moved into beauty therapy, and eventually led him into lashes and brows.
He worked directly with clients, learned the craft first-hand and came to understand the industry from the inside.
That early experience shaped the way Otto would approach his career for years to come.
He learned what worked.
He saw what did not.
And he kept asking what could be done better.
That curiosity never really left.

Showing up and sharing knowledge
The early years of Otto’s lash and brow career were not built around large audiences or international stages.
They were built one salon at a time.
He visited salons, knocked on doors, offered free demonstrations, spoke with artists and taught whenever there was an opportunity.
There was no big production behind it.
There was simply knowledge, a willingness to share it and a genuine interest in helping artists improve their work.
One salon became another.
One conversation became another.
And slowly, those relationships began to grow.
The trade show years
By 2008, trade shows and industry events had become an important part of Otto’s work.
Expo floors, demonstrations and education stages created the chance to speak with thousands of lash and brow professionals.
But those years were about much more than demonstrating products or techniques.
They were an opportunity to listen.
Otto heard directly from artists about what was happening in their salons, what they were finding difficult, what they wanted to understand better and what they needed from professional brands.
Those conversations helped shape the education, products and professional relationships that followed.
They also helped build something much bigger.
A community.

The world got bigger
By 2014, international speaking and education had started to accelerate.
Europe, the USA, Canada, Asia, the Middle East, South America and Australia all became part of Otto’s growing education work.
Travelling gave him the opportunity to teach, but just as importantly, it gave him the chance to learn.
Different markets brought different questions.
Different techniques.
Different client needs.
Different ways of working.
The questions became deeper, and Otto’s own learning continued with them.
From artist to educator to cosmetic chemist
Understanding how to perform a technique was no longer enough.
Otto wanted to understand why it worked.
That curiosity led him deeper into cosmetic chemistry and the science behind lash lifting.
He wanted to understand how products interact with the hair, how formulations influence performance, what happens within the hair fibre during treatment and how systems could be improved.
That knowledge became another important part of the education he could give artists.
Not simply:
Do this.
But:
Understand why you are doing it.
Because when artists understand what is happening during a treatment, they are better equipped to assess the hair in front of them, make informed decisions and adapt their approach when needed.
That way of thinking has become a key part of the education philosophy behind Elleebana.

The people behind the impact
For Otto, the greatest part of the past 27 years has always been the people.
Artists.
Educators.
Distributors.
Students.
Industry friends.
People met in salons, classrooms, backstage, on expo floors, on stages and in countries around the world.
What began with one person sharing what he knew has grown into a global community spanning more than 60 countries.
And Otto is always the first to acknowledge that none of it happened alone.
Behind the travel, education, products and events are teams, educators, distributors, partners and artists who have supported the vision, challenged ideas, shared knowledge and worked alongside him.
That part of the story matters just as much.

2026 Lashie Awards Industry Impact Award
Receiving the 2026 Lashie Awards Industry Impact Award marked a special moment in Otto’s career.
The award recognises much more than time spent in the industry.
It reflects years of showing up, continuing to learn, asking questions, sharing knowledge and helping move professional lash and brow education forward.
As Otto shared:
“I’m incredibly honoured.
But more than anything, I’m grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey.
This belongs to the community too.”
When looking back over 27 years, it is not only the awards, products or stages that stand out.
It is the artists who placed their trust in him.
The educators who shared the knowledge.
The teams working behind the scenes.
The friendships made along the way.
That is the part worth celebrating.
Elleebana named 2026 Lash Brand of the Year
The celebrations continued when Elleebana was also named 2026 Lash Brand of the Year.
Founded in Australia in 1995, Elleebana has grown into a global lash and brow brand with a presence across more than 60 countries.
Over more than 30 years, the industry has changed significantly.
Techniques have changed.
Products have changed.
Education has changed.
But Elleebana’s focus has remained centred on the professional artist.
From salon-based education and trade show demonstrations to global training, product development and technical support, the goal has always been to help professionals better understand their work and feel confident in the choices they make.
Winning Lash Brand of the Year reflects the work of far more than one person.
It belongs to the educators sharing knowledge every day.
The distributors supporting professionals within their own markets.
The teams behind product development, education, marketing and customer support.
And most importantly, the lash and brow artists who continue to use, question, learn and grow with the brand.

More than 30 years, and still learning
Elleebana’s story has never been about simply following where the industry is going.
It has been about continuing to learn, question and look for ways to help move it forward.
That same curiosity that began behind the treatment bed remains an important part of the brand today.
Listen to artists.
Understand the science.
Keep learning.
Keep teaching.
And never lose sight of the people behind the treatments.
To receive both the Industry Impact Award and Lash Brand of the Year at the 2026 Lashie Awards is an incredibly meaningful recognition for Otto, the Elleebana team and the wider global community.
27 years in beauty. More than 30 years of Elleebana. And countless people who have been part of the story.
And behind every milestone, the most important part of the story has always been the people.
